Florida keys fishing guide

Backcountry  Light tackle fishing in the gin clear waters of the Great White Heron National Wildlife Refuge and the Key West National Wildlife Refuge. The Lower Keys and KeyWest have much to offer with many different species of game fish available year round. Shallow water fishing, wrecks and banks, sight casting, live baiting & jigging for: Tarpon, Cobia, Permit, Grouper, Speckled Trout, Yellowtail, Mutton & Gray Snapper, CeroSpanish & King Mackerel, Bluefish, Jewfish, Barracuda & Sharks

Offshore  Trolling, Live Baiting and Sight Casting for: Dolphin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, Marlin, Kingfish, Cobia & Sharks. Surplus dolphin will be tagged and released to help the University of South Carolina with their research project and in the end to help us all.

Reef & Wrecks   Live baiting, Bottom Fishing with dead and live bait & Jigging the deep wrecks and Reef. Some of our target fish include  Yellowtail, Gray & Mutton Snapper, Black & Gag Grouper, Amberjack, Kingfish, Cero & Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Permit, Jewfish, Barracuda & Sharks

Deep Dropping   Bottom fishing with "Kristal"reels generally from 500 to 1200 feet deep, targeting mainly snowy grouper, tilefish and barrelfish. Fishing on the bottom at depth with electric reels is far from light tackle fishing but when the fish come to the gaff I can assure you the excitement can be the same.

Island Charters is based in the Lower Keys running from the KOA MM 20 located on Sugarloaf Key.  Light Tackle Fishing the backcountry, the reef and wrecks and offshore from Key West  to the Seven Mile bridge to include Cudjoe, Sugarloaf,  Summerland, Ramrod, Big Torch, Middle Torch, Little Torch and Big Pine Keys, Bahia Honda State Park, Bahia Honda Bridge &  Little Palm Island. Captain Bill Welder is a light tackle fishing guide, fishing in Key West and the lower keys
